Crikey! Could this be the best O'Brian novel yet? I was captivated right from the tremendous opening to the book when the HMS Surprise dodges a volcanic eruption whilst pursuing the Franklin. Trouble is.....there's only four more novels left. What am I going to read when I've finished them..........?
